LEGAL TERMS AND PRACTICES ON Abortion IN SOME EUROPEAN COUNTRIES

Austria:
12 weeks. If the child or the mother will have physical problems after birth, abortion is applied directly.
Belgium:
12 weeks. Suffice it to say that the mother is “depressed”. Two physicians’ approval is required.
France:
12 weeks. Suffice it to say that the mother is “depressed”.
Germany:
12 weeks. 3 days before the abortion, the woman should get the doctor’s advice.
Greece:
12 weeks. Up to 19 weeks are allowed in case of rape. Italy: 12 weeks. Before the abortion, the woman is given 1 week of “thinking time”.
Netherlands:
13 weeks. Before the abortion, 5 days of reflection is left.
Portugal:
16 weeks. If the pregnancy is risky, an abortion is performed in the 12th week.
Spain:
22 weeks. If there is a health problem, the abortion takes place in the 12th week.
UK:
Abortion is legal up to 24 weeks. Health, economic or social reasons are sufficient.
